Crystal Stonewall

Crystal Stonewall is Associate University Legal Counsel. She joined the Office of Legal Affairs in 2022 and her primary practice areas include student affairs, employment law, and public records law. Crystal’s student affairs practice includes advising on admissions, Clery, FERPA, Title IX, registered student organizations and student misconduct. Her employment practice includes advising on employment relations matters, assisting with misconduct investigations, and employee disability and leave issues. Crystal also represents the University in proceedings before administrative bodies, including the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights, U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Wisconsin Equal Rights Division.

Prior to joining the Office of Legal Affairs, Crystal received a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Wisconsin Law School, where she served as co-Symposium Editor of the Wisconsin Law Review and co-Executive Director of the Black Law Student Association.
