Samantha Riedeman

Samantha (Sam) Riedeman joined the Office of Legal Affairs in 2023 and serves as University Legal Counsel. She provides legal advice in the areas of purchasing, public records, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, and use of university lands. Before joining the Office of Legal Affairs, she served as Staff Counsel for the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, where her primary practice areas included public records, purchasing, grant-making and compliance, and other transactional matters. She started her legal career in the Honors Attorney Program at the Department of Homeland Security in Washington, D.C. Following that, she served as an attorney at the Federal Emergency Management Agency for three years, primarily advising on federal procurement.  Sam graduated cum laude from the University of Wisconsin Law School, and she also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
